Dior Sauvage 10 Years Johnny Depp

<p>Ten years since its debut, <strong>Dior Sauvage</strong> remains one of the most influential men’s fragrances of its time. I could do 25 films with him or read the telephone book for him if he wanted me to. When we worked together the first time, for the first Sauvage film, it felt to me like I met this wonderful kindred spirit who was as interested as I was in letting moments create themselves. He allowed an infinite amount of freedom than you would normally have on a film shoot. He wants imagery, he wants to create poetry and he has the best eye and the best sense of humor. He has no fear, and is the sweetest man in the world, but also absolutely stuck to his vision.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>On playing himself in the Sauvage films...</strong></div><p>JD: “It’s the strangest thing because the last thing in the world that I ever wanted to do as an actor was to play myself. It’s such a frightening idea. Characters can get away with a lot more than I can, and under their guise, even though every character is part of me of course, I can escape myself. With Dior and these films, it’s pretty much me. But with Jean-Baptiste, I felt very comfortable and free because you never know exactly what is going to happen.”</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/176094533508210.jpg" style="width:1000px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>On the desert as a place of reflection...</strong></div><p> “Many years ago, when I finished a film, I would either get on an Amtrak train and go North, or split in my old pickup truck, drive out to the desert and stay at some motel. But my late friend, the writer Hunter S. Thompson, always said something that I still, to this day, find very intriguing about snow leopards: ‘At the top of the mountain, we’re all snow leopards.’ It’s very poetic… But me I’m probably more of a raven, like in the Edgar Allan Poe poem. And then I just said those words in a conversation and he said ‘Yes, that’s it!’”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>On being chosen by Dior...</strong></div><p> “At first, I was kind of shocked. Dior has been maintaining an elegance and a sense of legacy for almost a century.
