Consider this your 101 to colored contacts:</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Do’s and Don’ts</strong></div><div><strong>1. Safety always comes first.</strong></div><p>While there is more room to experiment with colored cosmetics like blush, lipstick, or even foundation, your eyes are a whole different conversation. When you’re literally putting a foreign object in your eyeball, safety should always be your first priority. Skepticism is actually a useful tool when making your contact lens purchase. Liege says, <strong>“Always make sure you&#x27;re buying from brands that have complete certifications. We&#x27;re talking about your eyes, so safety should always be your number one priority.” </strong></p><p>Furthermore, she also shares that safety was one of the things she really took seriously when building her business. <strong>“The main reason I started SPOT was that there wasn&#x27;t a local contact lens brand that was really doing it right. Hygiene is key.</strong></div><p>Putting on contact lenses for the first time is quite an experience. For some, it can take a few tries and some getting used to to comfortably wear a pair of contact lenses. But sometimes, what makes it difficult is you’re not prepping for it properly– a.k.a. unclean hands. Jason advises, <strong>“Always wash your hands before handling lenses. If they feel uncomfortable, remove them immediately and avoid rubbing your eyes. Start with daily disposable lenses since they’re thinner, more comfortable, and more hygienic.”</strong> In addition, if you feel like you’ve prepped your contact lens with enough solution before putting it on your eyes but you still feel like it’s not enough, Jason offers this solution: <strong>“If you have dry eyes, use lubricating eye drops throughout the day.”</strong> </p><p><strong>More pro tips</strong>: Make sure the eye drop product you’re going to use is contact lens-safe and always remove it at the end of the day. Choose the right design</strong></div><p>If you think choosing the right color is the only bane in your colored contacts journey, you might be surprised to learn that the design is also equally as important, if not more. It’s what separates you from elevating your makeup look to looking extremely unnatural. When we asked Lierge about how she curated the colors in her brand’s debut collection, she said that the designs were really where they spent a lot of time planning.<strong> “Honestly, it wasn&#x27;t really about the colors. It was more about the designs. I don&#x27;t like designs that look like they&#x27;re literally drawn onto your eyes. I actually had a viral video where I called them ‘<em>bayawak </em>lenses’. For warm morena skin, I love olive greens and deep browns. For cooler undertones, blue or pink tones work well, while gray is a great choice for neutral undertones.” </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>For Lierge:</strong></div><p>“When it comes to matching it with your makeup look, I usually base it on the size, limbal ring, and color.
