1. Kilay really is life!

Well-groomed and perfectly shaped brows can be considered the newest it accessory a woman can have! As we women age, we tend to experience brow thinning due to over-plucking, among other factors. While there are tons of amazing brow products out in the market to help you achieve a perfectly arched pair, one wise thing to do is to get microblading.

With this brow technology already available in Manila, one can enjoy perfectly shaped brows all day, everyday, in one easy procedure that has minimal pain, and no down time (save for some peeling as it heals)! The result? Bright, fresh eyes that are framed by brows that are perfectly done, minus the stress of having to draw them on every morning!

Watch this exclusive video with renowned US-based microblading artist Nikki Guevara as she takes us step by step through the microblading process!

2. Do a detox!

The simplest way to shed a few pounds and look fresh for the holidays is via a good 'ol detox program! This may seem easier said than done, but if you choose the right thing to detox from, then a little change goes a long way! The holidays will surely make you indulge a little more on food and alcohol than you're supposed to, so preparing your body way before all the feasting will help control any additional weight.

Some simple detox ideas you can try right now are:

  • Drinking warm water with lemon and some ginger first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. This is said to help cleanse your system of toxin build-up, and rev up metabolism. Equally, sipping on lemon water all day can help the cleansing process further.
  • Abstain from dairy, sugar, and gluten. These things mainly act as irritants and highly inflammatory in the body. According to Medial News Today, "Inflammation is the body's attempt at self-protection to remove harmful stimuli and begin the healing process. Chronic inflammation can eventually cause several diseases and conditions, including some cancers and rheumatoid arthritis."
  • Try Intermittent Fasting, or abstaining from eating red meat some days of the week!
  • Do a green smoothie detox. While this regimen need not necessarily require you to not eat anything other than greens, adding a green smoothie to your daily menu can do wonders for your health. Think getting all the needed vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber your body needs—all in one glass! A concoction we love is called the "Glowing Green Smoothie" by famous Hollywood nutritionist Kimberly Snyder, and it goes something like this:

3. Explore Xeomin treatments.

We're all for non-invasive treatments, aka not having to literally go under the knife to alter our faces or our bodies. If a treatment does not have to cut us open thus having less down time and pain, we're onboard! Many of us have heard of Botulinum toxin, better known as Botox, which is basically a cosmetic non-invasive procedure that removes wrinkles by way of temporarily paralyzing muscle. This usually comes in the form of an injectible to promote a slimmer, younger looking face.

The most recent offering in the market for Botox is Xeomin—“the only pure anti-wrinkle injectable,” says Dr. Jennie Francisco-Diaz of Skin 101. “It is ‘pure’ because it has been stripped away from unnecessary complexing proteins, which decreases the chance of one becoming immune [to the effects.] It is used to prevent lines from deepening and making it static.” She adds that the ideal areas to treat are the lines in the glabella, crow’s feet, and forehead for aging, and masseter (jowls) for slimming the face. Xeomin has zero downtime and a fast onset of 2-3 days.

4. Try the V-Shape Contour

More than just contouring your face using good old makeup techniques, the latest in the beauty scene is the "V-Shape Contour" offered by beauty powerhouse Belo Beauty. In an interview with Dra. Vicky Belo herself, Founder and CEO of the Belo Medical Group, she weighs in on this amazing cosmetic technology, and convinces us that this is the must-have for looking great this season. Check out her answers below:

What is the V-shape contour? What is the process and how long is the down time?

The V-shape Contour or V-shape profile is popular among women since it makes your face smaller and more feminine. To achieve this, there are various treatments such as Thermage and V-Contour.

Thermage is a powerful contouring and skin tightening treatment. It uses RF technology and has no down time. You only do it once every year, or two years depending on your skin aging.

V-Contour is a popular treatment to remove localized stubborn fats in the face, arms, thighs etc. in the face it’s usually around the cheek and under the chin that we treat. Very minimal downtime of two-three days (redness swelling or bruising which can be covered by make-up) We recommend that this be done with Exilis three days after the V Contour for skin tightening and improve fat removal

Who is elligible to get it? Is there anyone not allowed to get it such as pregnant women?

Though these treatments are clinically proven to be safe, we do not recommend them for pregnant women. The reason being a woman undergo changes during pregnancy and it has to be cleared with their doctor.

Thermage and V Contour are ideal for people with fat or chubby facial profile.

Are there alternative treatments?

The V shaped profile can be achieved through a variety of treatments in Belo that we can customize according to their skin and goals. For example, there’s Botox Masseter for softer jaw profile. Chin fillers help define the face or create a more V shaped look.
