Donny Pangilinan, a star celebrated by his generation, leads a life filled with project commitments, shoots, and interactions with fans. Behind the camera, Donny is also a passionate athlete who thrives in basketball, running, biking, and golf.
However, this routine comes with its own challenges, prominently among them, the struggle against acne.We caught up with the Kapamilya heartthrob during the launch of QUICKFX’s limited edition Pimple Eraser kits to talk about his skincare journey.
Donny Pangilinan for QUICKFXDonny candidly shared, 'Because I'm also taking protein shakes, mas lumalabas [yung acne]. Sometimes taping ends up late, like 3 a.m. There are times na lumalabas yung pimples kasi hindi naman maiiwasan yun, but I really try to do my best to take care of my skin.'
The 'Can't Buy Me Love' lead actor goes on to reveal that he's also been into running, which exposes his back to sweat and dirt, leading to pimple breakouts in that area. 'During my teenage years, I would get pimples din naman, like everyone else, obviously. But hindi naman yung sobra. I think not the face, more dito sa likod kasi I was a runner, so every day I'd be in the track field. And that was my main sport talaga, and I'd run like 10 kilometers a day. So, I think it was very important for me to put on sunscreen. And whenever I had the chance, to moisturize my skin as well.'

He stressed the importance of embracing imperfections as a natural part of life while proactively seeking effective solutions. 'That's part of life, and you have to accept that, that happens,' he emphasized. 'But you should also be able to try other products that will help you with that like QUICKFX.'Donny's endorsement of QUICKFX products is rooted in his personal experience and belief in their effectiveness. He even encouraged men to reject stereotypes and embrace skin care as an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle.
'That's true, a lot of times skincare is associated with women, but I think that shouldn't be the stereotype,' the Kapamilya actor shared. 'I know men should also take care of their skin, and there's nothing wrong with doing that because you're caring for yourself and [you bring your] face and body to meet people every day.'
'In my case, I have to be in front of the camera. Just being able to know that your skin is healthy and you're ready to take on the day, especially if it's this hot or the environment is not so clean, at least you know you're making sure you're on track,' he added. 'I think we should break the stereotype that only girls should do skincare. Everyone should be taking care of their skin because it's also very healthy to do so.'
The ABS-CBN Ball 2023 is almost near, and we asked the actor how he is preparing for the much-anticipated event, “Hopefully I won’t get a pimple on that night! Let’s not claim that.” he laughs. “We’re in the process of looking for a nice suit. Apart from that, I will probably have the whole kit but siguro with the pimple cream, so that whatever happens, if anything comes out that night, it will dry right away. That’s the most important thing”

Fortunately, Donny quickly discovered that managing a pimple is uncomplicated: apart from taking care of your skin and using the right products that work for you, the young actor also stressed that ensuring adequate rest, staying well-hydrated, maintaining a balanced diet, and incorporating products that can alleviate concerns are major key factors in maintaining healthy skin.
