From Frizz to Fearless: Can Dove Really Repair The Bond Between 3 Women and Their Damaged Hair?
Three women with damaged hair got a free hair makeover and the results are stunning!
In a world filled with Instagram-perfect hair, it's easy to feel like our own locks just don't measure up. We've all been there, battling with different hair issues that leave us feeling less confident. But what if we told you that a simple beauty makeover could change how you feel about yourself? That's exactly what Metro.Style's "Make Me Over" campaign, in partnership with Dove, set out to prove.
We invited three fantastic ladies, Treisha, Kam, and Cielo, to join in on this transformational journey. Each of them had a unique hair struggle that they were ready to conquer.
From Artistic Expression to Hair Nightmare
Businesswoman and model Treisha Vanns loves experimenting with different hairstyles. From coloring and curling to tying her hair up, she does it—regularly. To her, it’s a form of expression. “It’s an easy button to lift my mood up,” she shares. But as a result, her hair got damaged. Since then, she had always struggled with dry hair that seemed to have a mind of its own. "I’m always in dire need of hair repair because I always go to the salon for a lot of treatments like hair coloring," Treisha adds. So, what she hopes to achieve is to make her locks more hydrated so they will look healthier.
The Battle with Overstyled Curly Tresses
As someone who has naturally curly and wavy hair, wedding planner Kam Tolentino has struggled with dry curly hair for years. She attributes her hair damage to too much hair styling which she can’t just give up on as it’s part of her job. Whether she’s out or at home, she feels the need to style her hair as she has to meet her clients. “I think as an entrepreneur, I always make sure I look good even if we don’t have set meetings because I never know if I’ll bump into a client or potential partners,” Kam says.
From Healthy Locks to Stressed Tresses
Fashion and travel writer Cielo Fernando used to have healthy hair that could pass for a shampoo ad. But growing up, she always found herself sunbathing at the beach and styling her hair with hot tools, so it took a toll on her strands. Her hair got damaged and she experienced split ends, hair fall, and frizzy hair. “My relationship with my hair is really complicated. Sometimes, I love my hair. Sometimes, I don’t because it’s dry and frizzy,” Cielo shares. Her hair was basically crying out for help.
The Makeover
After these three amazing ladies spilled their hair horror stories, our team of fashion and beauty experts jumped right in to work their makeover magic. First stop? The makeup station, where the pros amped up their natural beauty, making them glow with newfound confidence.
With their faces all done up, it was time to tackle those hair issues. Our hair experts, armed with Dove's Keratin Tri Silk Serum Shampoo and 1 Minute Serum Conditioner, got to work, turning their locks from drab to fab. This range regenerates extremely damaged hair and instantly repairs visible signs of damage for extra straight, extra smooth, extra shiny hair in as fast as 1 minute (with regular use).
And last but not least, the fashion stylist swooped in, picking out outfits that screamed confidence and empowerment. It was a step-by-step journey to self-discovery, one makeover at a time. The result? Their tresses were tamed and transformed into silky, shiny waves that cascaded beautifully—and their relationship with their hair came out stronger.
“I love my makeover! Before it started, my hair was really lifeless and dull but now it’s extra bouncy. I really love it, I feel like I can take on anything,” shares Treisha.
“I also feel really great about it. I’m used to styling my own hair but whenever I do that, it feels like I’m always sacrificing something. Right now, even as I’m touching it, even if they gave me a hair blowout, it feels so good, it feels so soft,” adds Kam.
“My hair is now softer and bouncier and when I looked in the mirror, I felt like ‘Oh wow I’m ready to take on the world. It’s very empowering. Now I look good and I feel good,” shares Cielo.
The Make Me Over campaign with Dove didn't just give Treisha, Kam, and Cielo beautiful hair; it gave them a renewed sense of self-worth and empowerment. It showed them that embracing their beauty, flaws and all, was the key to feeling truly confident. As they took their first steps into the world with their heads held high, they realized that beauty isn't about conforming to society's standards—it's about embracing and celebrating your unique self.
