Editor Diaries: I Tried Kalm's Head Spa Scalp Treatment

<p>I&#x27;m pretty sure by now you&#x27;ve come across an ad on Instagram or Facebook that showcases those trendy head spas that promise a zen-like ambience, multiple steps that involve hair masks, shampoos, steams, massages, the works! As with many other beauty trends, the elaborate head spa routine originated from the world&#x27;s beauty capital, Seoul, South Korea, and has found its way into Manila. And because I love a good pamper me treat, I knew I had to try it for myself. I booked an appointment with <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kalm.spa.aesthetic_rockwell/" target="_blank">KALM Spa &amp; Aesthetic</a> in Proscenium, Rockwell via <a href="https://www.parlon.ph/beauty-bag-deals/1715148254-kalm-head-spa-scalp-treatment" target="_blank">Parlon</a> and went on a weekday afternoon.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img loading="lazy" src="https://assets-metrostyle.abs-cbn.com/prod/metrostyle/attachments/d6a23317-037c-4209-86fc-2e70c1bfce98_20240614_141526.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt=""/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">KALM</span></span></span></div><p>KALM is located at Lincoln Tower The Proscenium at Rockwell, and it could be found tucked inside the parking area at the back side of the building. Within its cozy walls you will find a minimalist chic space with a couch, four treatment rooms, and a restroom. It may be small, but it promises serenity through their lineup of massages and head spa services. My scalp didn&#x27;t have any major problems except for some dryness so the therapist recommended we do a deep hydration treatment using a lineup of Kérastase products.</p><div><br/></div><p>The therapist did a quick warm-up massage on my shoulders to help get me relaxed and proceeded to have me lie down on the bed to get the treatment started. I was given a soothing warm eye mask which helped me block out any distractions and get fully immersed into the sensations of every step. My hair was thoroughly cleansed with shampoo and she used a bunch of massage tools and techie hair gadgets to massage my head. This part truly felt good with a capital G! </p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img loading="lazy" src="https://assets-metrostyle.abs-cbn.com/prod/metrostyle/attachments/728584a8-1652-4919-a011-954a414dfab0_2.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt=""/></span></span></div><p>She then proceeded to apply a hair mask and allowed it to settle within the steam cover. At this point I removed my eye mask because I wanted to witness what was going on (and take a couple of shots for documentation, of course!) After about five minutes, it was the part I&#x27;ve been waiting for—the hair rinse using the fancy gold shower! The water trickled down slowly on my scalp until my head was fully rinsed. As the shower was ongoing, the therapist kindly did a very relaxing hand and foot massage as well. At this point, I knew that I was going to visit this spa again in the near future. Back on the consultation chair, the therapist even did a hot stone massage for my neck and shoulders—truly the cherry on top of an already relaxing experience. The therapist did a final check on my scalp using the machine we used earlier and evidently, the slight redness was gone and my scalp looked crystal clean and clear compared to when I first arrived. </p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>The verdict</strong></div><p>While some would be skeptic about getting a head spa, I&#x27;d say it&#x27;s truly worth it if you would like to up your game in the scalp care department. It&#x27;s a deep clean, treatment, and relaxation experience that doubles as a salon self-care date, as you can request for your hair to be set and styled while being blow dried. At P2,550, it may seem pricey, but for the elaborate process and the quality products used, it&#x27;s a good investment to make.
