Toni Gonzaga's "Drastic Cut" Will Make You Want To Chop Your Hair ASAP!

When it comes to red carpet-worthy, onstage performance-ready hair, Toni Gonzaga always wows with her hairstyle—be it volumized and “lion-esque” or long and sleek.

Her go-to hairstylist and best friend Macy Dionido loves experimenting on different looks with Toni—from straight to wavy to updo—to further showcase the versatility of the Ultimate Multimedia Star.

But like how good makeup starts with good skin, it can also be said that good hairstyle starts with healthy hair. To maintain and give new life to her hair, Toni has another go-to hair expert, the famous Alex Carbonell of Studio Fix, who makes sure her hair is always in tip-top shape.

Yesterday, Toni—who is fresh from her Japan trip with husband Paul Soriano and their baby Seve—launched her and Alex’s newest collaboration on social media: A feminine, short, layered, jagged bob.

For some, it can take a long time to decide or convince yourself to chop your hair to a super short cut. But for Toni, it seems that embracing this change is easier because she trusts her hairstylist and knows he will deliver great results.

On her Instagram Stories, Toni said that her new hairstyle has been her “dream hair since high school,” and that she “finally had the guts” to chop her hair to her desired length.

In all the years she’s been turning to Alex for hair transformations, Toni reveals on Instagram that this is by far the shortest cut they’ve done. And we must say, it’s such a brave choice for this beautiful mom! The low-maintenance, wash-and-go cut is absolutely perfect, too, for her on-the-go lifestyle.

Alex also took to Instagram to share more photos of Toni and her fabulous new hairstyle, and even spilled all the details about it. He shared that the color technique he did on Toni’s hair is the trendy balayage, a technique for highlighting the hair which results to a natural-looking gradient effect that is much subtler than ombre; he complemented this with lowlights and highlights, all done with Aveda products.

Toni debuted her super short hair (which reminds us of her hairstyle or wig that she had on the box-office hit movie Starting Over Again where she starred as Ginny) on the live show of Pilipinas Got Talent last night, and Macy stylized her “softly layered cut” to a “chic pouf.”

Her dream hair has turned real, and Toni is obviously in love with her beautifully drastic transformation.

Now, for those who are inspired by Toni’s latest ’do and are thinking of heading to the salon stat, especially for a short-hair-don't-care kind of summer hairstyle, read up on how it can be achieved—straight from Toni’s trusted hair expert:

Just before the long Holy Week break, @studiofixbyalexcarbonell inspires those ladies who desire to have a feminine short layered bob worn by my MUSE @celestinegonzaga ..And, for those who want the details of the cut, let me share the important key points: 1. From ear to ear, around the nape area, a flat layered in point cutting technique to shape Toni’s hairline. Or you may use a feather razor for seamless and soft texture. At this point, Toni was breathless! 7 inches were cut off! 2. On the crown area, cut the overlay on flat layer in point cut. Texture for uneven length. The idea is to have the pouf! She loves the Pouf! 3. On both sides, cut hair in “J” direction; short to long. Maintain the symmetry from back to sides. Over-direct for a longer sides. Nice! 4. Fringe: pivotal cut for lightness. 5. Crown and Quirk: TRADE SECRET GUYS. ?? Usually, the drama is my PASSION. And Toni was really watching me!!! #studiofixbyalexcarbonell #alextraordinaire #alexcarbonell #hairgoals #tonigonzaga #celebrityph
