Subtlety Was Key for the 2024 Golden Globes Beauty Scene
The red carpet saw ethereal beauties without the need for over-the-top makeup statements
New year, new awards season! Hooray for us, as we're huge fans of red carpet events, awaiting the Hollywood's A-list sashay down in the season's hottest designer threads and the most beautiful hair and makeup looks. We at METRO adore a glamorous ensemble, and when it's on some of our favorites like Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Swift, and Hunter Schafer at the Golden Globes, you best believe we're paying even more attention!
For this year's Golden Globe Awards, "Barbenheimer" (Barbie movie and Oppenheimer) was on everyone's lips, apart from big winners like Emma Stone for her role in "Poor Things", as well as Cillian Murphy for his epic performance in "Oppenheimer". As with every Golden Globes event, our favorite Hollywood celebrities pulled all the stops to show up in a beautiful look—but one trend definitely stood out to us in the beauty scene: subtlety.
Hunter Schafer showed up in a clean updo, monochromatic pink (almost nude) makeup, Jennifer Lawrence allowed her sun-kissed skin and long tresses to shine, and Taylor Swift, who's almost always in red lips, came in barely there cheeks and a neutral lip. In the gallery below, we round up 10 of our favorite subtle yet striking hair and makeup statements:
