Francine Diaz is no stranger to beauty transformations. The pretty young thing has graced our screens with countless makeup statements, but this time, we're living for a look she hasn't done before: the fiery, bold look she did on the latest cover of METRO with Korean star Seo In-guk!

In an interview with her go-to makeup artist RB Chanco, we discovered how they were able to come up with this look for the special METRO cover, one that's for the books! The collaboration song 'My Love' is a sweet, relaxing song to listen to, and honestly it's our current 'LSS'. But what's seriously still in our heads is how stunning Francine looks on our cover! She surely gave us the attitude we need to talk about.

Metro.Style: What was the inspiration and how did you do K-Beauty for this look?
RB Chanco: With Francine when I started doing her makeup 2021, it was my style of makeup, doing it on her. Of course from time to time you learn new techniques and you have to upgrade your style. She was my first client who really inspired me and pushed me to veer away from my comfort zone. Our dynamic is that she will give me a peg that she likes, and it evolves into our collaboration. When I heard about this collaboration project with Korean superstar Seo In-guk, I thought that she really had to look like a Korean actress or K-pop idol. Korean skin, the works!

So we looked at some pegs, then we opted for the K-beauty skincare inspired-look throughout the promotion of this project. At the METRO shoot, we thought to change it a bit. Also, her hairstylist Brent Sales, encouraged her to change her look. So what I did to make it different is that statement crimson red lip. There’s blue red, there’s orange red. But what worked with Francine is when I used that shade of red which had a touch of dark brown. When we tried it, I thought, this looks amazing. We paired it with super simple makeup—a not much makeup, no thick eyebrows, no popping eyeshadow, no thick lashes kind of look. It suited her.

People often get scared of wearing red lipstick because of fear of looking older or 'mataray', but finding the right shade of red will help you achieve the look you want. In Francine's case, crimson red suited her the best.

MS: How did you achieve this glowing finish and dramatic lip?
RC: I actually used for products to achieve this lip. I started with an auburn plum lip liner, filled it in with a plum-ish lip liner, a red lipstick, and another dark reddish brown lipstick. Sometimes to achieve a certain lip color you really have to mix and mix and do this and add this and lessen this. It was experimental. When we finally arrived at the shade we liked, we thought it was really beautiful!

I just drew brow hair on the sparse areas of her brows, then for eyeshadow, it was a pop of cream that's a nude-peach color, no eyeliner, and single lashes so it’s not very falsies looking. Very natural. No powder. The glow and the sheen and dewiness will not pop if you use powder. Just creams and liquids.

MS: Why do you think this look worked on Francine, including the new hairstyle?
RB: Just to tell you—she has the nicest, most pore-less, most porcelain glowing skin without makeup that one can work with. That’s her! In all certainty she is an actress that doesn’t have to use foundation. Her skin is perfect. She’s really perfect for that glass skin look. The real focus with the Korean/K-pop/K-drama look is flawless, pristine skin, I always say that. It has to be pore-less. No blemishes. Less is super duper more but for me, natural makeup is harder to do than full on makeup or over-the-top makeup.

For her hair, you don’t see Francine doing that. She always goes the wavy, bun, or straight route. So that’s something new and then it worked well with the makeup. I think the total look really worked on her and it’s something nice and different and so glad we used it for this cover. I'm very proud of this look on Francine because we were able to achieve and be at par with the Korean standards of makeup in this collaboration. We were really able to achieve that Korean glass skin glow.
