Grab Your Tissues, Ladies: Urban Decay Is Discontinuing The Original Naked Palette—Here’s How You Can Score It At 50% Off
Bring out your waterproof mascara—today is a sad day for makeup lovers.
In case you haven’t heard, Urban Decay will be discontinuing an iconic, game-changing product that revolutionized the beauty industry; a best-selling essential found in almost every makeup collector’s kit; the “iPhone of makeup”.
Yes, you guessed it right. We’re talking about—cue the tears—the original NAKED Palette.
“Today, we mourn our beloved original NAKED Palette, a revolutionary product that changed the beauty industry forever,” announced Urban Decay in a press release. “A little bit naughty, often dramatic, and always in the press, the innovative game-changer and category creator will be laid to rest after eight years, without a smudge of regret. Passionate NAKED collectors—and pretty much anyone with eyes—will remember NAKED as the beauty product that changed their lids forever. It was beautiful and mythical and millions of superfans, from misfits to moms to models, will miss NAKED from Virgin to Gunmetal.”
The 12-shade palette was conceived in 2010 by Wende Zomnir and Urban Decay, and the rest, as they say, is history. “Saying goodbye to NAKED is extremely bittersweet," says Wende. “It was a big moment in our history. It's a little painful to leave your past behind, but it's also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss NAKED, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in NAKED's memory and honor—just wait and see."
In a sad-but-hilarious video, Urban Decay ambassador Nicole Richie gave a eulogy for the all-time favorite palette. “Everyone has tried to copy you, but no one has been able to capture your true essence. You are the OG,” read the celebrity. Attending the “funeral” with Nicole were beauty influencers Kandee Johnson, Christen Dominique, Katy DeGroot, Shayla Mitchell, and Chrisspy, who paid their respects to their favorite shades like Virgin and Toasted.
To commemorate its successful eight-year run, Urban Decay is giving everyone the chance to get their hands on the original NAKED palette for the very last time. Simply log on to Sephora and Urban Decay websites and grab the iconic palette at 50% off—it’s now priced at $27 from $54! Hurry up because this promo is only available until supplies last—remember, once they’re gone, they’re gone forever.
Gone but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Naked palette. You will be missed.
