Jennylyn Mercado’s Latest Campaign With Max Factor Encourages Women To Embrace Their Own Beauty!
For today's beauty standards, we'd like to think that gone are the days when “beauty” meant just one specific look. Sure, there's still a lot of pressure for people to look a certain way—women to be modelesque and men to get ripped—but refreshingly, a lot of the more current movements in the beauty industry are geared towards changing beauty standards for the better. We are looking inward, we are celebrating uniqueness. This is the new era of beauty.
These days, brands have begun to embrace imperfections, rallying behind campaigns catering to a new demographic of women—women who are made strong and beautiful because they’re smart, fiercely determined, optimistic, and courageous.
Enter Max Factor’s new campaign called You X Max Factor, an empowering movement that celebrates diverse beauties of women and their beautiful stories. In this campaign, the brand believes that true beauty goes beyond looks; it’s more holistic and reflective of not just their appearance, but also of their character, charisma, and life experiences. “You X Max Factor aims to be an essential tool to empower women to be the best version of themselves and be proud to tell their own beautiful story; to enhance their natural features and who they’ve become—NOT try to cover up flaws, look like somebody else, or transform their look completely.”
To put a face to this campaign, Max Factor Philippines chose award-winning actress/singer Jennylyn Mercardo as their first ever local brand ambassador. “I love how Max Factor caters to every woman, especially with this campaign. It comes full circle for me because this is the brand of makeup I have been using when I entered the business,” she shared.
“In my life, there are two things that challenged me as a person. One is raising my son as a single mom. It’s very difficult to raise my child and work at the same time. Second was when I lost my mom—my biggest support system in life. In those two scenarios, the thing that got me through is faith in God, that everything happens for a reason; in my inner circle, that they will be there for me no matter what; and lastly, in myself, that I am capable enough to do everything and anything to overcome whatever life gives me,” she added.
Having risen up from these challenges, Jennylyn also revealed that what actually makes her feel most empowered is when she is able to help someone in her own little ways, and most beautiful when she's happy and the people around her are happy.
“The industry may overload us with photos and definitions of specific types of beauty, but we shouldn’t pressure ourselves to fit into these boxes, because every woman is unique and beautiful. We are more than the physical, we are beautiful souls with depth and story, and makeup can help us reflect that confidently every day,” said Audrey Canta, Division Manager for Max Factor.
Jennylyn supports this by saying, “For me, a person is beautiful when he/she treats everyone with respect, kindness, and love. Their essential goodness makes them beautiful and powerful inside and out.”
