MAC Cosmetics rocked the beauty world this week when they dropped their MAC 40 Lipstick Bringbacks collection, just in time for National Lipstick Day! This year, they're celebrating beauty lovers' favorite holiday with the most-wanted shades customers have been asking for for years! They've opened the MAC vault and have decided to bring back eight discontinued shades, to lipstick lovers' delight! The lipsticks have the same beautiful shades, this time in reimagined packaging, donning '90s vibes with the bright hued sticker-inspired prints and neons!

While this is great news for every beauty junkie, some people reacted differently, as these lipsticks bring back fond memories of the past—myself included!

As I was excitedly unboxing my MAC 40 Lipstick Bringbacks press kit, I got the shock of my life as I saw 'Up the Amp' included in the lineup of shades that were brought back. I've always thought about this shade through the years and how good it complemented my skin tone back in 2013 (yes, this was 11 years ago), during the time I'd go out on nights out with my friends in places like the now defunct Opus night club.

I had a hard time letting this lipstick go, despite its expiry, because I truly loved it! Flashback to 2024, I've still wondered and looked around for something similar, but nothing truly hit the spot. Thanking my beauty fair god mothers right now because lipstick dreams still do come true! Up the Amp is back, alongside other iconic shades!

Along with my beloved lipstick shade, other shades that have made a comeback are: Shanghai Spice, Fleshpot, Double Shot, Hot Gossip, Bubbles, Chintz, and Haku. Editor's Note: Haku, Chintz, and Bubbles are not offered locally in the Philippines.

Just when I thought fragrance was the only thing that had the power to bring back memories, now it's confirmed that lipsticks also do. As I look back at my (almost) 40 years of life, I realize I've always had a special lipstick for every season and memory. Coincidentally, MAC Cosmetics is also celebrating 40 years this year, so I think this epiphany as a beauty editor is pure kismet!
