Makeup Artist Mickey See Shared What It Was Like Working With "YOU" Star Penn Badgley

 

As if spending the day with Penn Badgley in a series of press events for the Netflix Original Series YOU yesterday wasn't enough, Metro.Style also chatted with makeup artist Mickey See, who made sure Penn looked fresh and photo-ready at all times. 

With Penn charming the members of the press during this trending visit to Manila, we got to know the Hollywood star on a more personal level through Mickey's amazing experience as part of his glam team.

Mickey is famous for being the go-to beauty expert and ever-reliable makeup artist of young star Liza Soberano, but top male celebrities like Coco Martin and Dingdong Dantes also trust him to bring out their best looks.

After going through digital portfolios, Mickey was handpicked by Netflix and Penn's management to take care of his grooming for this tour. Thrilled to have this opportunity, Mickey shared that working with Penn was such a breeze. Mickey tells Metro.Style, "He makes me feel comfortable while working with him. He's on time; when you tell him his call time is at 9:30 a.m., we would start promptly at that time."

Penn's professionalism was one thing Mickey truly admired about him. Despite the fact that he was experiencing jet lag, he was so game and eager to answer the questions from the media. The Netflix event yesterday started with a quick photo shoot with his co-star Shay Mitchell, where they were seen feasting on halo-halo at The Peninsula Manila. This was followed by a curated on-stage conversation about YOU with Shay and host Joyce Pring. In the afternoon, several media interviews were lined up. Just imagine how tiring it must have been. Still, Penn stayed cool and charming all throughout. 

"The first day I worked with Penn was memorable to me because the schedule was so hectic, and yet Penn answered all the questions in his interviews. The way he responds to the reporters is very witty. He's very humble too," says Mickey. "He would always ask me if I had already eaten or kung kamusta ang byahe ko papunta ng hotel."

Here, Mickey shared tips on how to achieve Penn's fresh look. Gentlemen, take note:

 

• Cleansing. "I cleansed his skin well and removed all the excess oil. I added a few drops of toner in a moist cotton pad and rubbed it all over his face in an upward direction." 

 

• Moisturizing. "I used a good moisturizer, and blended it onto his skin, using the tip of my fingers."

 

• Finishing. "I didn't use foundation on him. Just tinted moisturizer and bronzer. We wanted him to look as natural as possible."

 

• Keeping lips moisturized. "I used a matte lip balm for a natural finish."

 

• Staying hydrated. "I used a lavender facial spray for his skin to have a bit of moisture."
