Metro.Style: When was the first time you worked with Mariel and how was it like?
Mark Qua: The first time I worked with Mariel was in It’s Showtime. She was a guest hurado, then she asked Mickey See if she can use me as her makeup artist. That’s where it all started.
MS: What do you love the most about working with her?
MQ: One great thing that I admire the most with Mariel is that she really has this confidence that not all artists have. She carries every makeup look so well na kahit ano pang gawin ko sa kanya kaya niyang dalhin. Nakakagana as an artist kasi ‘yun nga, she can carry anything that you do with confidence. Kaya ko naisip ‘yung 100 looks because I believe kaya ng face niya and paninindigan niya na kahit anong gawin mo "maganda ako." Hahaha! May ganun siyang aura.
MS: How did the #RoadTo100LooksOfMariel start? How did you not run out of ideas for this series?
MQ: As a makeup artist, it would be a great practice for my skills, and at the same time it’s a good practice to perfect my muse from any given angle. Ibig sabihin sa way na ‘to malalaman ko at mas makikilala ko ‘yung mukha ng muse ko, kung ano ang pangit at maganda sa kanya. And the limitations of looks for her, malalaman ko hanggang sa alam na alam ko na din ang mukha niya kahit nakapikit pa ako.
Hindi naman ako nauubusan pa so far. I practice everyday, I research before I sleep everyday ng kung ano pa pwede, ano pa ‘di ko nagagawa.
MS: What are your beauty inspirations for Mariel?
MQ: Basta laging glowing skin lang then the rest will follow.
MS: What are your makeup tips for daily glam looks?
MQ: For daily glam look, keep in mind na dapat ‘pag tinignan ka ng tao magagandahan parin sila sa’yo. Kahit super glam pa ‘yan sa tanghaling tapat, basta maganda siya, ‘yun yung major tip ko for making each look.
