If you’ve noticed your favorite beauty brands turning a sweet shade of blush this month, it's with good reason: October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and cosmetic brands are doing their part to support the cause by creating products that are good, and do good. A lot of makeup, hair, and skincare brands have given some of their fan-favorite products a rose-colored makeover to raise awareness and help fight the killer disease.
The pink color is, in more ways than one, a symbol of the cause. It all started in 1992 when magazine editor Alexandra Penney and breast cancer survivor Evelyn Lauder collaborated to create the pink ribbon, thus the Estee Lauder counters were fitted with 1.5 million ribbons, along with a breast self-exam card. In turn, they collected more than 200,000 pink ribbon petitions asking for funding increase for breast cancer research. Today, the Estee Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Campaign continues its legacy of unwavering support for funding breast cancer research, education, and medical services.
We think it's the perfect time to pledge your love and support for more than 200,000 women in the world who get diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Thanks to many of the beauty brands supporting the efforts to diagnose, treat, and cure this disease is easier than ever.
