The New Beauty Rules From The #NYFW Runways

Just as we’d hoped, Spring/Summer 2020 delivered a variety of wearable and summery abstract beauty looks. It’s truly all about the feeling of an endless summer, or at least its beauty trends won’t. Take the Jeremy Scott and Tomo Koizumi runways, for example, which proved that the graphic patterns of the ‘80s are more in fashion than ever with eye looks.

Christian Siriano delivered similar bright colors by creating bold brush strokes. Makeup artist Erin Parsons smeared Maybelline TattooStudio Eyeliner Pencils in the shades Deep Teal, Polished White Sparkling Silver, and Striking Navy on the back of her hand before applying them directly with her fingers. “We dip our fingers into [the eyeliners] and just basically feel where the bones is, and you just wipe, and that’s it,” she said in an interview with Allure.

Chromat, as always bought neons to life on a backdrop of high-contrast swimwear. Makeup artist Keri Blair used M.A.C Cosmetics products to create a combination of looks borrowed from previous season, plus a few new ones, for the designer’s theme, a 10-year retrospective. “It’s always about graphic shapes, liner, color play, and [there is] always blue.”

As every runway season does, the looks for this season included dark and edgy outliners, too, such as Brandon Maxwell’s black, glimmering cat-eye makeup and Pyer Moss’ rock and roll-inspired beauty.
