How to Pull Off the Very Peri Trend, According to a Pro Makeup Artist

In 2022, we've decided that we're stepping out of our comfort zones and injecting way more fun into our lives—staying at home or not! How timely that Pantone's color of the year happens to be a very fun hue—'Very Peri'. It's described as "a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red."

While it's not a typical shade we'd often incorporate into our makeup looks, it sure can spice things up where needed. Either through an eyeshadow, an eyeliner or even a lipstick! To help us get started on our Very Peri makeup projects, we asked professional makeup artist Chuchie Ledesma to help us break it down. 

If you're thinking of rocking it for a post-holiday get together online and want to make things fun on-screen, try using it on your eyes. "Use the color as an eyeliner instead of a full eyeshadow, or simply apply a subtle wash of Very Peri eyeshadow onto your eyelids for a quick trip down '90s memory lane. Make sure to curl your lashes and apply coats if mascara for definition", Chuchie shares. 

As for the lips? Chuchie tells us to "complete the '90s look with a baby pink lipstick. A MLBB lip color (peach, salmon, or mauve) would also be your best bet for when you want go for the classy look with a pop of color." If you want to go Very Peri on your lips, we suggest matching it with a neutral, smokey brown eye, and a peach cheek—this is how we'd do it!
