Editor Diaries: Trying Admiral Spa's Biologique Recherche Facial

Biologique Recherche isn't a new brand for beauty aficionados. But for those who are new to the brand, allow us to give you some trivia. Biologique Recherche is a cult favorite French skincare brand that's loved all over the world. Celebrities worship its iconic P50 Lotion, including the likes of Brad Pitt, Alessandra Ambrosio, Bella Hadid, Nicole Richie, and Victoria Beckham. Dermatologist extraordinaire Vicki Belo is also known to have gone to the Biologique Recherche spa in Paris right before her wedding, and she called it "the best place to have a facial in Paris."

Good thing for us, the brand is now widely distributed in Manila, and you, too, can try one of their amazing products or facials. Binome Wellness Concepts, Inc., is the exclusive distributor of the brand in the country, and recently, they launched their partnership with Admiral Spa at the Admiral Hotel Manila, an accredited center.

Lucky for me, I got to personally try the facial, and I can easily say that it's one of the most memorable facials I've ever had in my life. 

The Biologique Recherche Experience

I had come from an event previous to my appointment, so I arrived at around 4 in the afternoon. It was also my first time stepping inside Admiral Hotel since it was renovated, so I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful interiors. It has that elegant old Manila vibe that was still cozy; nothing too outrageous, yet filled with tiny thoughtful details. 

The Admiral Spa can be found at the ground floor of the hotel, near the fitness center and near the Benibana Hair Atelier. The spa isn't that big, but is roomy enough for several treatment rooms and a spacious reception area. 

I was greeted by the friendly staff and was quickly oriented about what was about to take place. I was led to the skin testing area where some fancy skincare equipment was explained to me. The Biologique Recherche Skin Instant Lab is a set of tools/instruments that helps the aesthetician to get into the nitty gritty of your skin in an instant. Consider it a "reading" of your skin's state—you'll find out if you're moisturized enough, dehydrated, lacking in skin elasticity, and more. With this first consultation step, the staff will know what to prescribe in terms of products and treatment, so that your visit is maximized. No two treatments are ever the same.

Soon after the consultation was done, I was led to the Biologique Recherche room of the spa, where there was a roomy bed, a sitting area, a private restroom, shower, and wash area. I got to change into a robe, slippers, and a headband and was soon ready to drift away into relaxation mode. 

The Treatment

My skin concerns included skin laxity, some acne breakouts due to hormonal imbalances, and acne marks. I had a pretty crazy work week so the exhaustion was pretty apparent on my face. I was just excited to see how my skin would transform after this facial.

The products to be used were discussed with me prior to the treatment, so all I had to do was enjoy every little massage stroke of my aesthetician's hands. 

I was told that no tools or any invasive treatments were to be done to my skin during the facial—only facial massage strokes. And boy was it a truly amazing facial. After my makeup was removed, I basically just dozed off into dreamland because it was very relaxing. After about an hour, the aesthetician woke me up and gave me a mirror to show me how my face transformed with just one facial! I was pleasantly surprised to see my skin look rested and relaxed, and lifted to boot!
