<p>Dealing with skincare concerns often feels like playing the stock market. As someone who had to contend with acne as a teenager—and what an ordeal it was—I completely understand how it feels to have low self-esteem, especially because I experienced it firsthand. When my skin finally started cleaning up, I developed a new sense of self-confidence, relieved that what was weighing me down was no longer there. </p><div><br/></div><p>And then adult acne reared its ugly head. </p><div><br/></div><p>I don’t struggle with it as much as I used to, but breakouts still kick in due to factors such as stress, fluctuating hormone levels, and other lifestyle habits that we may or may not be aware of.</p><div><br/></div><p>When the OG blogger—you’ll know what I mean if you’re around my age—and<strong> CKIN Collective founder</strong>, <strong>Camille Co-Koro</strong>, myself. The simplest things to do became so hard because I was stripped of my self-confidence and my self-esteem. I was overwhelmed and isolated, and I felt that others who have to deal with acne could be going through the same. This is why I started CKIN. I wanted to take that power away from acne, to remove the stigma surrounding acne, and to help others feel seen and guide them in understanding their own acne journey.”</p><div><br/></div><p>When confronted with something that we cannot control, it is human instruct to act on emotion and search for a quick fix. Camille admitted to reacting the way most of us do in the face of a breakout: search and apply for acne-busting ingredients, not realizing that she was doing more harm than good to her already damaged skin barrier. Camille doesn’t believe in an 11-step regimen as based on her personal experience, simpler and gentler ingredients and processes work better.
