But just how bad is it not to take off your makeup before you sleep, you ask? For one, it can lead to breakouts. When you sleep in your makeup, it can mix with the dirt and oil that has built up throughout the day on the surface of your skin and this can lead to clogged, inflamed pores.

Second, it can lead to a dull-looking complexion in the morning. If you sleep in your makeup, these can settle into your creases and fine lines, which may eventually cause your skin to be on the dull side. This might even make you look older than you really are.

Lastly, it can hinder your skincare efforts. If you apply your skincare products on top of your makeup at night, they won’t work like they’re really supposed to. You should apply your skincare products to clean skin for best results.

This simple five-step routine started with Julia washing her face with a cleansing balm. This type of makeup remover is ideal if you have dry skin. It hydrates and soothe without stripping your skin of essential moisture. She then removes her false eyelashes and contact lenses before using a facial cleanser and moisturizer. Lastly, she applied her preferred sunblock and dabbed a hydrating balm on her lips. Now how hard is that to do? Let's all get unready!
