The New L’Occitane Triphase Essence Is Joanna Preysler’s New Summer Hydration Secret

Stay hydrated and refreshed throughout the day with L’Occitane’s new addition to their Immortelle line

Oily skin, dry skin, combination skin—we all have different skin conditions and needs, but there’s one thing that rules all skin types: a balanced skin ecosystem.

That’s right! Did you know that the surface of our skin is home to billions of microorganisms like bacteria and fungi that keep our skin happy and healthy? It may sound scary, but these microbes are very important, helping produce vitamins, hormones, and chemicals for the skin.

No matter your skin type, the goal is to maintain a healthy microbiome. But sometimes, harsh soaps and skincare products, incorrect use of antibiotics, and various environmental factors wreak havoc on our skin’s microbiome, resulting in dryness, overproduction of sebum, breakouts, and redness.

This is exactly what L’Occitane’s Immortelle line hopes to achieve: to protect your skin’s microbiome and keep it healthy.

L’Occitane’s Immortelle Reset Triphase Essence

The L’Occitane Immortelle products are the brand’s response to the resurgence of natural products and ingredients. The L’Occitane Triphase Essence is the newest addition to their lineup, which hopes to keep the balance and health of our skin’s microbiome. The Triphase Essence is infused with a blend of natural ingredients, oils, and water to help achieve that balance.

Inspired by the power of natural water and the oil composition of the skin, the L’Occitane Triphase Essence combines the “power of three” luxurious natural ingredients: immortelle, acmella, and prebiotic.

Immortelle is a flower sustainably sourced in Corsica—a mountainous Mediterranean island south of France—and is found to be a natural antioxidant powerhouse. It works by reinforcing the skin to create a stronger skin barrier.

Acmella is a flowering herb that has been used as an herbal remedy for decades. It is considered a natural alternative to botox, as it helps smoothen out the skin and slow down the appearance of wrinkles.

For the first time in L’Occitane face care, prebiotics are infused in the Triphase Essence. Prebiotics are food for the skin's good bacteria, so that the skin microbiome stays healthy and happy. Applying prebiotics on the skin has been found to keep the skin surface stronger and more balanced, offset factors that lead to dryness, and ward off signs of aging.

It’s also nice to know that the L’Occitane Triphase Essence is free from silicones and mineral oils, which can sometimes clog the pores and trap impurities and dirt.

How Joanna Preysler uses the L’Occitane Triphase Essence

There are three distinct ways to use the L’Occitane Triphase Essence. First, you can shake and spray directly on the face for instant refreshment and hydration. Second, you can shake and spray three pumps on your palm, patting it afterwards on the face to help the product penetrate into the skin. Third, you can use it with the reusable mask. Generously apply the essence on freshly cleansed face. Moisten the mask with hot water and place on the face. Lightly tap the fingers to help the absorption and leave on for 5 minutes.

As an essence, the L’Occitane Triphase Essence should be the first (or one of the first) things in your skincare routine because its role is to prepare the skin to make it more receptive to the next products in your routine. For an easy and solid skincare routine, use the Immortelle Overnight Reset Oil-In Serum afterwards to boost the effects of the essence, and then finish with the Immortelle Divine Cream to target the six visible signs of aging.

For Joanna, who has been using this solid L’Occitane Immortelle line, she found that her favorite was the hydrating powers of the Triphase Essence. She found that the hydrating effects of the essence were immediate, and she instantly noticed her skin looking fresher and happier.

A summer tip from Joanna: store the essence in the fridge so it’s cooler and more refreshing to use. She also sprays it on her face throughout the day for instant refreshment, which is a godsend especially during dry and hot days.

The L’Occitane Immortelle Reset Triphase Essence is available in 150 ml and 50 ml. Shop at L’Occitane boutique stores nationwide or through the online store at
