Total Skin Rejuvenation Is One Prick Away: Meet Rejuran
And there’s no adverse effects to worry about! The viral injectable that’s been making the rounds on TikTok is now available in the Philippines
At this point in time, very few of us remain strangers to the wonderful world of skin injectables. While I have always adapted a rather apprehensive attitude towards fillers, I have had Botox deposited into my masseter muscles to help relax my jaw and relieve my bruxism. Though I’d had those done for purely health reasons, it’s easy to see the cosmetic appeal of injectables. Skincare is one of the most worthwhile beauty investments, after all—when your skin is in prime condition, everything else follows.
Rejuran is a skin healing injectable that turns back the clock on your skin aging process. It uses polynucleotides harvested from Korean salmon DNA, activating the skin’s self-regenerative abilities, resulting in an overall improved condition. Scientists discovered that the genetic make-up of salmon DNA is similar to that of humans, ensuring little to no risk of adverse effects when injected. While it can be injected into certain areas to treat specific concerns, Rejuran improves wrinkles, scars, pores, pigmentation, and even elasticity and luminosity.
There are three types of Rejuran currently sanctioned for use by the Philippine FDA:
- Rejuran Healer - used for full-face treatment due to its medium level viscosity. This is the most popular options for patients.
- Rejuran I - used to target wrinkles around the eyes due to its low level viscosity
- Rejuran S - used to target sunken acne scars due to its high level viscosity
- There is a fourth variant called the Rejuran HB, which is an enhanced version of the original formula. Its hero ingredient is lidocaine, which enhances the patients’ comfort level and and reduces treatment-related pain.
Most patients begin to see results 3-5 days post-treatment, citing marked improvements in skin texture and restored skin balance. A second session, which is usually done 2-4 weeks after, sees improvements in pore size and texture. Those without serious concerns are usually happy after just two sessions with boosters done every six months or so to maintain results, but others can be recommended an additional one to two sessions depending on the condition of the skin. The most common side effect is slight swelling or visible bumps, but these go away after the 24-hour mark. You can go about your day-to-day routine post-treatment as well.
