The idea for the clinic came up during a random hangout session between head dematologist Dr. Erika Ty and beauty enthusiast and retail expert Jeri Lim. Wanting to depart from the fast-paced clinical settings she had grown used to, Dr. Erika shared her vision of opening a space that provides tranquil atmosphere that enhances the clients’ experience in such a way that they feel good on the inside while getting their treatments done. Things quickly fell into place; fate was definitely on their side when they found an available space for lease at The Corner House in San Juan that same night. This quickly propelled their plans forward.

Together with Dr. Erika and Jeri, brand expert Nina Tan and marketing lead Kat Lim are the driving forces of this new beauty space, which opened its doors in December of 2023. “We’re not aiming to single out a particular service,” shares Kat. “It’s the dedication we put into every aspect of our treatments that we want our clients to acknowledge. From ensuring that your face gets a thorough cleaning—no shortcuts—to throwing in that extra 10-minute facial massage, we want our clients to recognize us for delivering a complete, relaxing experience. The moment you enter through their glass doors, you’re greeted by a gold engraving on the floor that says: “Your path to great skin starts here.” Sacred Skin’s friendly receptionist will check you in, offer you some refreshments, and then escort you to Dr. Erika’s office, where she can help you decide which treatment is best for your skin. After sitting down with her for a bit, she recommended that I try the Sacred Skin Retreat, an elevated 90-minute skincare experience that is described as their ultimate indulgence. It is literally everything one could ever think of to get a firm, glowing complexion with instant results, and a relaxing scalp to shoulder massage as an added bonus. The treatment couldn’t have come at a better time; I hardly got a wink of sleep the night before, and I had an event to attend in two days.

Because there is so much that goes into the Sacred Skin Retreat, it takes quite awhile for the attendant to explain each step. To break it down, the first 60 minutes are for a hydrafacial and a jet peel, and the final 30 is a radio frequency (RF) treatment to tighten skin, all done using top of the line machines. I was quick to fall asleep early on in the session, lulled by the comfortable interiors and the background music. A quick note: Results from the RF treatment are instant, with no downtime save for some redness in the area. They take a before and after photo for you, so you see the difference at once. It’s great for when you have an upcoming event, and the effects from the treatment last for about a month. Of course, it’s you duty to follow any post-treatment guidelines, go for follow-up sessions, and make healthy lifestyle choices to maintain any and all positive results.
