<p>There’s something sweet currently happening at <strong>The Theater at Solaire,</strong> and it’s one you absolutely cannot miss! The global world tour of <strong>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical</strong> is showing on stage in Manila, and it runs until <strong>July 26, 2026.</strong></p><div><br/></div><div><strong><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784108178775SnapInsta.to_747587222_18608481241042560_7382302684293455513_n.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/> </strong></div><p><strong></strong>The timeless tale about kindness, humility, and dreaming big finds new life on the stage, and even gets a Filipino touch! (Editor’s Note: You have to watch to find out what we’re talking about!) Apart from the international cast, our very own Karylle takes on the role of Mrs. Bucket, Charlie’s mom. Wong (Charlie Bucket), and Giselle Amarisa Watts (Violet)</strong> and found out what the actors love about the iconic story, plus the lessons they’ve learned along the way. </p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>KARYLLE (Mrs. Bucket)</strong></div><div><strong>Metro.Style: &quot;Charlie and the Chocolate Factory&quot; is a classic story. Why is it important for families, kids, and adults to still experience it right now?</strong></div><p><strong>Karylle:</strong> I think when a literary classic remains, there are a million reasons why. And I love how the kids know the story from the book. So, I think that you should watch it with your family. I do love to observe the kids who watch. So I watched it in Singapore. My husband watched it last night; he&#x27;s like, &quot;The kids really react, no?&quot; And I think it&#x27;s nice for families to come together to experience theater.</p><p>This one is specifically family-friendly, and I think they&#x27;re going to come out of it just bonding over the story, and <em>siguro dun sa</em> mga familiar <em>na talaga</em>, <em>alam na nila, eh</em>, what to expect. But for the ones who are going to discover it for the first time, I think it&#x27;s a great play also, <em>para dun sa mga hindi pa nakakapanood ng </em>play ever. What do you want them to take with them?</strong></div><p><strong>Karylle:</strong> I think it&#x27;s just that feeling of nostalgia for the ones who loved it since they were kids. And for those who have no idea about the story, just that courage to dream, and to create, and to explore. I think, yeah, those are things that are very important for any life, especially if you are just living it too plainly. There are so many possibilities.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Metro.Style: And what is the lesson that it has taught you personally, given the role that you play?</strong></div><p><strong>Karylle: </strong>Personally, I just think that love really, really exists in different shapes and forms, and sometimes, tough love is necessary, and it&#x27;s just one of those things that bring out the best in people. But, you know, in the same breath, you have to make sure that you balance life somehow. But yeah, for the tough love moms, I feel you. It&#x27;s necessary.</p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>OLIVER T. WON</strong><strong>G (Charlie Bucket)</strong></div><div><strong>Metro.Style: Why should families watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?</strong></div><p><strong>Oliver: </strong>Um, I think there&#x27;s a very big lesson to be learned in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I think that just everyone needs to be reminded of all of the lessons that are learned, so that, you know, we can make the world a better place.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px;display:block"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784109681654SnapInsta.to_747307411_18608481070042560_9131528644129713728_n.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Charlie with Mrs. Bucket</span></span></span></div><p><strong>Metro.Style:</strong> And what was the best lesson that you personally learned from your role?</p><p><strong>O</strong><strong>liver:</strong> Probably, what goes around comes around, because it just has a very big impact on the show. </p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>Metro.Style: What is your favorite moment that people should watch out for when they watch?</strong></div><p><strong>Oliver: </strong>A<strong></strong>lright, no spoilers. Um... I think the end. Why is it so important to still tell this story right now, and why should families watch it?</strong></div><p><strong>Giselle: </strong>I think it&#x27;s extremely important because it is something for all families. It&#x27;s something for all ages, and it really does speak to everyone, especially considering the fact that we have, you know, our youngest company member, we have Charlie, who&#x27;s, you know, 10 to like 12 years old, and then we have Grandpa Joe, who&#x27;s, you know, he&#x27;s like 90, 91 and a half, as they say in the show. And so, I think it&#x27;s really important to see that in both of them, they&#x27;re both two dreamers, and they both carry this urgency of kindness, and to share that with people, and to share that wonder with people. And so, that&#x27;s why it really is for everyone.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px;display:block"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784109902894SnapInsta.to_747536189_18608481139042560_4919165141048813709_n.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Giselle Amarisa Watts as Violet</span></span></span></div><div><strong>Metro.Style: And what&#x27;s one thing that you want the audience to take home once the curtain rolls down?</strong></div><p><strong>Giselle:</strong> I want everyone to take home that it&#x27;s okay to dream and it&#x27;s okay to dream big. And then, not only that, to see the wonder in the world, because I believe it&#x27;s interesting how Charlie still saw the wonder, even when he was living in the dump, you know what I mean? And so, it&#x27;s like even though his life may not have looked as colorful, he was still able to see it, and he was able to create it for himself. And so, I think that that&#x27;s really important, and I really hope that everyone leaves with that. Like, you can create the magic in your own life.</p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>Metro.Style: Lastly, what personal lesson has your role taught you?</strong></div><p><strong>Giselle: </strong>Well, my role has taught me that you should lead with humility. Violet is so arrogant, and it&#x27;s one thing to be talented, but if you&#x27;re not humble and thinking of others along the way, it doesn&#x27;t mean anything. And so, I really have learned that it&#x27;s so much better to lead with humility, and to think before you act or before you speak.
