4 Exhibits to Check Out In February To Satisfy The Art Aficionado In You
I have a confession to make: art has an indescribable way of calming my personal storms even for awhile-what a sweet and short pause for the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. This February, there are four exhibits you can visit.
To start with, Vargas Museum takes pride in presenting the Living Archicture Exhibition. Co-presented by Architecture Steiner, Citydesigner, and Iona Stichting Foundation, the exhibition focuses on cleaving as a sustainable and life-oriented approach to architecture. Where we live affects ourselves, our culture, and our relationships, says exhibit curator Pieter van der Ree, a practicing architect and a professor with a passion for man and architecture. The exhibit opens on February 3, 2018 at 5PM.
Bellas Artes Projects presents an exhibit of Bruce Conner: Out of Body on February 24 (in Makati) and March 3 (in Bagac, Bataan). Curated by Diana Betancourt, the exhibi showcases Conner’s practice as surrealist sculptor, painter, and an avant-garde filmmaker that draws strands from Eastern and Western spirituality.
The ongoing exhibit Elmer Borlongan: An Extraordinary Eye for the Ordinary presents works that tackle the mundane vis-à-vis his life from the streets to the bukid. Curated by historian Ambeth Ocampo, it is on display at Metropolitan Museum of Manila until March 28, 2018 at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila.
How about a post-Valentine’s hurrah at Art Informal for solo exhibitions of Brisa Amir, Tosha Albor, and Christina Dy on February 15 at 6 PM? Get to know more about the artists and their works at the opening.
Whether you admit you feel the same, neutral, or not at all about art’s indescribable ability to calm personal storms, I am very certain these four exhibits are worth the visit.
