<p>A brief yet poignant peek at our past as an inspiration to build a better future is the goal of Filipino sculptural painter, <strong>Arce</strong>, in his recently unveiled works. </p><div><br/></div><p><strong>“ROPED: The Reflections of Our Past, The Enlightenment of Our Destiny” </strong>is yet another exhibition of the artist that aims to visually magnify the gravity of history and the preeminence of faith in the social and moral fabrics of our young, evolving nation.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img loading="lazy" src="https://assets-metrostyle.abs-cbn.com/prod/metrostyle/attachments/9c19dbec-bcd8-43b7-b9fe-f999f217ad47_dsc_7736.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt=""/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Arce spent six arduous months creating this masterpiece in hopes of showing the walled city’s once glorious yet dark past to its desolation through the years it has stood at the heart of Manila</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>The visual artist utilizes his unconventional use of media and experimental techniques to reflect the brevity of Intramuros, Manila has and continues to bring to our nation. He spent six arduous months creating this masterpiece in hopes of showing the walled city’s once glorious yet dark past to its desolation through the years it has stood at the heart of Manila. Once the seat of political and military power, the walled city of Intramuros is now a tourist attraction and physical representation of what we Filipinos have endured in our history. </p><div><br/></div><p>Arce used intricate artisan mirror frames as a visual representation of its past and the creative anchor of his narrative. He layers his pieces with deconstructed and folded canvases and thick, textured paints in a contemporary palette to create silhouettes and movements. A haven for visual artists to showcase ingenious and cutting-edge masterpieces, Art Underground specializes in championing the Filipino experience and global influence. The gallery is a platform that gives artists an opportunity to show their work both locally and internationally through its consistent participation in notable art fairs such as <strong>Art Fair Philippines, Art Fair Tokyo, KIAF (Korean International Art Fair) Art Seoul, Art Central Hong Kong</strong>, and more. </p><div><br/></div><p>Arce is a Filipino visual artist. A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas’s Fine Arts program, Arce always works with what occupies his present state of mind and his myriad of emotions. His process of adapting multiple perspectives while creating delivers deeply personal works of art that touch on complex and intricate social and historical topics.
