The Broadway Musical About Princess Diana Is Coming To Netflix
It will be filmed live for the streaming platform before opening on Broadway next year
Before it could open on Broadway on March 31, Diana the Musical was affected by the Great White Way’s closure that in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic. This closure has temporarily shuttered Broadway theaters and productions for the time being, with its closure set to last well into this year.
But that’s not stopping the musical about the Princess of Wales with a book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music and lyrics by David Bryan. Next year, before it opens on Broadway on May 25, 2021, it will first premiere on Netflix.
According to Playbill, the production’s “safety protocols have received approval from Actors’ Equity Association.”
“The myriad provisions include routine testing, isolation plans for all actors and stage managers, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) changes to ensure proper ventilation backstage,” it added.
Diana the Musical stars Jeanna de Waal in the title role, Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles, Erin Davie as Camilla Parker Bowles, and Judy Kaye as Queen Elizabeth.
