Joanna Ampil Is Set To Play Bloody Mary in a UK Production of South Pacific
“The prestigious #ChichesterFestival will be my home this summer with #SouthPacific,” wrote the actress back in February
It’s going to be an enchanted evening!
Joanna Ampil, most recently seen in Ang Larawan, CATS, and Call Me Tita, is set to play Bloody Mary, a Polynesian native who makes a living selling souvenirs to American sailors, in a United Kingdom production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific.
Playing from July 6 to August 29 at the Chichester Festival Theatre, South Pacific brings together stage actors and actresses Gina Beck (Matilda, Phantom of the Opera) as plucky war nurse Nellie Forbush, Julian Ovenden (Merrily We Roll Along, Downton Abbey) as the older and more sophisticated Emile de Becque, and Rob Houchen (Les Misérables, The Light in the Piazza) as Cable, a handsome and intelligent officer.
Joanna is a seasoned performer on the international stage, appearing regularly in various West End productions. Most recently, she portrayed Francesca Johnson in Atlantis Theatrical’s The Bridges of Madison County, Candida Marasigan in Ang Larawan, and Maya Almedo in Call Me Tita for iWant. Just last year, she reprised her role of Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS.
