Reese Witherspoon Is Honoring Her Southern Roots With A Book On Entertaining, Eating, And Passion For Monogramming

We’ve always known and loved Reese Witherspoon for her feisty and fun roles, and now, she’s taking her Southern charm to the pages of a book. She calls it Whiskey In A Teacup.

In this personal narrative, the well-read actress, producer, and entrepreneur shares a glimpse of her entertaining, self-care, and lifestyle experiences while growing up in her hometown. “It’s all about Southern living and my Southern heritage, and how that sort of informs pretty much everything I do, from what I eat, to how I decorate, to how I celebrate family traditions, even how I do my hair,” she says in her official promotional video.

She’ll be talking about her passion for down-home living, her favorite books, her beauty routine, her most-loved Southern traditions like the holiday barn parties, and the charming creature comforts that Southern folks are famous for, like their fondness for making everything they touch a little more beautifuly personalized..

And of course, the food. Everyone knows how deliciously hearty Southern cooking is—none of those skinny bird-food portions, please!—as you’ll find in the special recipes passed on from her grandmother.

Speaking of her grandmother, she’s an integral part of Witherspoon’s inspiration.

“My grandmother Dorothea always said that it was a combination of beauty and strength that made Southern women ‘whiskey in a teacup.’ We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside we’re strong and fiery,” says Witherspoon of the book’s concept. “I hope you’ll see how easy it is for you to bring a little bit of the South to your home, no matter where you live. After all, there’s a Southern side to every place in the world, right?”

Whiskey in a Teacup isn’t just another chronicle of Southern home living, though.

In essence, this book is also a nod to the unique and incredible lady who’s secure in her femininity enough to brave life’s most difficult challenges without losing her sense of grace, spirit, and who she is. It’s a reflection of a life rich with joys and obstacles, and the love, appreciation, and gratitude for both that Witherspoon wants all of her readers to experience as she did.

On that note, we strongly suggest that y’all hurry and pre-order a copy of Whiskey In A Teacup on Simon & Schuster, before your amigas do.
