A Double Treat: Film Screenings at Archivo 1984 and MCAD
Archivo 1984 Gallery and Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) will be bringing us movies for various ages.
Archivo features 'Pabling'/'Playboy' (1981) by National Artist for Cinema (2001) Ishmael Bernal who is known to produce films that speak about social commentaries on struggles of Filipinos.
Known as the genius of Philippine Cinema, some of Bernal’s notable masterpieces are 'Pahiram ng Isang Umaga' (1989), 'Broken Marriage' (1983), 'Himala' (1982), 'City After Dark' (1980), and 'Nunal sa Tubig' (1976). Bernal is also known for challenging his art by defying censorship and emphasizing justice for the marginalized to enlighten and entertain viewers.
'Pabling' will be shown on December 6, 2017 at 7 PM at Archivo 1984.
On the other hand, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) brings us films that celebrate Christmas.
MCAD will be screening two animated films from the 80s. These are 'Mickey's Christmas Carol', retelling Charles Dickens masterpiece through Disney characters, and 'Snowman'. Besides the two, below are the film titles and schedules:
