The streets of Manila is your rendezvous for Chinese New Year weekend.
Filipinos, no doubt, love festivities. And no matter the celebration, we know we’re always in—we’re not just here for Christmas or birthdays! Such gatherings that we always look forward to include Chinese New Year, no matter if you’re part of the community or not. This year, the Fil-Chi community goes all out to welcome the Year of the Rat.
Gather your friends and folks and head to Binondo, which is commonly referred to as our very own Chinatown. This weekend, apart from hopping from one food stall to another to sample on authentic Chinese delicacies or checking out vintage stores that sell charms and other goods, add the Chinese New Year Countdown 2020 Street Party to your itinerary! From morning ‘til afternoon, have a cultural tour of Chinatown; in the evening, join the biggest names in OPM today and groove your way until dawn!
This initiative, headed by the Office of the Mayor Isko Moreno, in cooperation with the Filipino-Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Inc., and Manila Chinatown Development Council, will hold several activities to commemorate the celebration. Happening on January 24 at Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz, Parokya Ni Edgar, Sponge Cola, Gloc-9, Shanti Dope, Ex-Battalion, Darren Espanto, Angeline Quinto, Janine Berdin and many more musical acts and other celebrity guests will rock the stage for the music-loving crowd. Catch the 30-minute grand fireworks display as well and light up the beginning of good fortune for this year. And the following day, catch the likes of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim for the Grand Float Parade that will travel along the streets of Binondo and Sta. Cruz.
You know where to find us this Chinese New Year, yes? See you there!
