Here's A Glimpse Of The MaArte Fair 2018 At The Peninsula Manila

The annual fundraiser of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (MFPI), MaArte at the Pen, happens this year August 10 - 12 at the Peninsula Manila. I’ve included in this feature a snapshot of the exhibitors for this year’s edition; and beyond the list of ‘usual suspects’, it’s nice to know that the second-floor meeting rooms will be turned over to exhibitors tasked to create veritable man caves. These rooms will house special product lines just for men; from Len Cabili’s Filip+Inna, to Jojie Loren for La Herminia Piña, Natalya Lagdameo, TLDG (Tweetie de Leon Gonzales) and Balay ni Atong.

If in the past years, we men were just left holding the purchases of our wives and girlfriends, it looks like MaArte is out to have us perusing for ourselves in these rooms, and telling our special someones to handle their own shopping bags. And for the Women, beyond the accessories, bags, jewellery, fragrances, and home decor, the likes of Randy Ortiz, Rosanna Ocampo and Mich Araullo have been enlisted to expand the Apparel section.

Always a worthy fundraiser, it’s good to know that the Museum Foundation has been instrumental, through the decades, in the housing of the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the newly opened National Museum of Natural History. From its start in the 1980’s and it’s advocacy supporting the National Museum, it’s great to note how their efforts have blossomed and have resulted in such concrete accomplishments. To celebrate, preserve, and promote our cultural heritage is a constant process, and it’s fundraisers such as MaArte at the Pen that need our public support.

That local craftsmen and entrepreneurs are so ready to join the cause and participate at MaArte is heartwarming. Filipino ingenuity, design and aesthetics are proudly on display during the MaArte Fairs; and it’s us, the consumers, who contribute to its success.
