Recap: Kim Ji Won 1st Fanmeeting "Be My One" in Manila
Filipinos won the heart of “Queen of Tears” lead actress Kim Ji Won and left her teary-eyed with an incredibly heartwarming moment at her fan meeting
Let it be known that Korean actress Kim Ji Won’s first ever fanmeeting event in the Philippines was sold-out!
This fact shouldn’t come as a surprise as the talented actress has steadily built her fanbase over the years among K-Drama communities in the country from her impressive early works on The Heirs, Descendants of the Sun, Fight for My Way, Arthdal Chronicles, Lovestruck in the City, My Liberation Notes, and her recent globally popular and record-breaking drama opposite Kim Soo Hyun, Queen of Tears.

Kim Ji Won was flustered and visibly surprised at how extremely loud and energetic the Filipino fans are.
From the moment the lights dimmed and Kim Ji Won walked onstage while singing “Stupid Cupid” all the way to the end, the charming actress was visibly surprised by the energy and loud cheers that welcomed her. “Actually, I was really looking forward na makita kayong lahat pero dahil ang lakas ng pag-welcome ninyo sa akin, I was actually very nervous at nagkamali ako ng konti sa lyrics kanina,” the actress, in her translated opening statement, confessed. The Filipino fans made her feel at home as they cheered on the actress from beginning to end. As usual, the fans did not disappoint with the signature reception we give to our favorites.

We are so used to seeing Kim Ji Won’s acting prowess that it came as a pleasant surprise that she has a beautiful singing voice and impressive dancing skills as well. She sang and danced her heart out to 2PM’s “My House,” as shown on the screen. She also made sure to highlight her vocal skills live and onstage not only with “Stupid Cupid” but also with a beautiful and soulful rendition of Lee Hi’s emotional ballad “Only.” The gorgeous actress said that she prepared the song for the fans because the lyrics are so beautiful, it made her want to share it with them, and that the song’s message is also dedicated to the fans.

The “Queen of Tears” fever raged on especially when Kim Ji Won prepared a special treat for the fans of her latest drama by singing Kim Na Young’s “From the Bottom of My Heart,” a song from the drama OST. As Ji Won’s voice dreamily filled the venue, various scenes and highlights from the drama were played on the screen. The loudest screams were heard whenever her screen partner Kim Soo Hyun and their romantic scenes together appeared. It was a segment that took the fans down memory lane when the drama was still airing.

The fanmeet also transformed into a huge and exciting party with the actress leading the games prepared especially for fans. She played a Guessing Game where she drew the clues with various fans immediately guessing the answers to her amazement. Ji Won also played the “Guess the Drama OST Title” to know which of the most ardent fans could identify the songs associated with her hit dramas. It was also through the game segments that Ji Won learned and gamely did the Pinoy “Eeeyyy” hand sign and expression. She clearly had so much fun with it as she shared that it’s one of the highlights of the event for her because “it’s so fun and cute!”

Before the event ended, the crowd surprised Kim Ji Won with a fan project that involved the audience serenading her with 10CM’s “Tell Me It’s Not a Dream” off the Queen of Tears OST. The actress couldn’t help but shed a few tears. She said she rarely cries but she did because she found the gesture so heartwarming and said (translated), “Hindi ko talaga in-expect na kakantahan ninyo ako. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat.”
BONUS: The “Hi-Bye” session may have happened inside the venue but Kim Ji Won generously waved, said hello to fans and lingered outside the venue to show her love and appreciation for the Filipino fans. It was quite a treat for those who patiently waited for her even after the fanmeeting.
All fans received photocard sets and souvenir show cards, while those who bought Loge, Orchestra C, and Orchestra A tickets were entered into raffles for signed posters. VIP ticket holders enjoyed similar benefits, with an additional chance to win signed Polaroids. Royalty ticket holders were also treated to an exclusive group photo with Kim Ji Won.
