Metro Weekend Guide: January 24–26
Everything to do with Chinese New Year!
Chinese New Year is this Saturday, so load up on the tikoy and celebrate—plus, a few other things to do and watch!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Part 3
Sabrina is back! Find out what the gang of Greendale is up to in this third installment of the show. Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) descends into hell to save her boyfriend, Nicholas Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood), for one. Her aunt Zelda (Miranda Otto) becomes High Priestess of their coven, and a lot more witchy shenanigans. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is streaming on Netflix.
Sex Education, Season 2
Another Netflix fave returned recently: the second season of Sex Education, and if you too are wondering whether Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Maeve (Emma Mackey) will get together, then join the club. After you inhale it, wish for a third season with us. Sex Education is streaming on Netflix.
Just Mercy starring Michael B. Jordan, Marcus Griffin, and Jamie Foxx came out in cinemas this week, and it’s got “much going for it”—with impressive acting from both Jordan and Foxx. Just Mercy is showing in cinemas near you.
Power Plant Mall’s Spring Festival
Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City
For Chinese New Year, customers can get traditional Chinese treats and lucky gift items at Power Plant Mall, and participate in a Lunar Arts Festival by Galerie Joaquin. There will also be a lion and dragon dance performance on the day itself. You can also bring the family to restaurants for a Chinese feast, as well as 20-peso desserts!
Araneta City’s Beginnings & Renewals
To invite prosperity this Chinese New Year, Chinese dragons and lions and Chinese Drummers will be performing in all malls, hotels, and residential buildings in the City. Shoppers of Gateway, Ali Mall, and New Farmers Plaza can also hear from Feng Shui Master Hanz Cua or get exclusive sessions with tarot card reader Rob Rubin. To participate, present a minimum single-receipt purchase of Php 500 from any Araneta City establishment in registration tables at the activity area of these malls from 11am to 3pm on January 25.
