Justice is in your hands. Antigone vs. the People of the Philippines Antigone vs. the People of the Philippines is an adaptation of Sophocles’ Antigone. The story of Antigone who buries her brother labeled an enemy of the state, invites its audience to think about where they place themselves in society and what role they play in fighting against injustice. This new text attempts to know its protagonist, Antigone, beyond the tragedy of Sophocles, and extends to the tragedy of modern-day Philippines, where traitors of the nation are given honorable burials, the innocent are murdered, and history is revised. Where will one woman from the upper bounds of society place herself amidst discussions of justice and human rights? What can you give up in order to fight for justice, humanity, and the greater good? Directed by Tara Jamora Oppen In partial fulfillment of Ms. Oppen’s thesis under the advisement of Guelan Varela-Luarca Adaptation by Sabrina Basilio Production Design by Tata Tuviera Sound Design by Krina Cayabyab Movement Design by Jomelle Era, assisted by CJ Lubangco Lighting Design by Earvin Estioco and Miguel Torralba Photography by Patrick Diokno Graphic Design by Carmen Dolina and Franny Tan Ticket Prices: 350 Php for ADMU students 320 Php for ADMU scholars 400 Php for the general public Show Dates: November 16, 23, 30 at 2:30 PM November 14-16, 20-23, 27-30 at 7:30 PM Black Box Theater, FA Annex, Ateneo de Manila University For show buying and bulk buying inquiries, contact Nicole Chua at 0906 266 2563 For ticket reservation inquiries, contact Ana Ruiz at 0917 813 3077 or reserve at Sponsored by Colgate #TasteConfidence #TA41 #AntigoneTA #EcritureFeminine
