Rajo Laurel's 'Archipelago' Collection Celebrates Filipino Pride At This Year's Red Charity Gala
October 27th is the red-letter day of the year, as it’s the night that the 10th edition of the Red Charity Ball happens at the Marriott Ballroom. And this year, the featured designer will be Rajo Laurel, himself celebrating his own milestone of 25 years as a fashion designer.
Spearheaded as always by Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Kaye Tinga, the yearly event is held for the benefit of the Philippine Red Cross and the Assumption High School Batch 1981 Foundation. And this year, a new beneficiary is added to the roster, the MINT School of Fashion, with scholarships being set up for the worthy yet financially-challenged.
Robbie Carmona, who’s back directing this year’s show was visibly excited about how the new venue lends itself wit the longest runway he’s ever worked with. He joked that after this show, he’s going to be spoiled in terms of production values and giving the audience something spectacular within the context of a fashion show.
As for Rajo, he’s harnessing Philippine History and it’s roots to serve as an inspiration for the creations he will unveil on October 27. The Vinta, our corals and sea life, the Panuelo, our Saranggola, these are just some of the what we can expect to see interpreted in the inimitable Rajo manner. During the press preview, Rajo showcased three creations, and they certainly made any fashion follower hoping the 27th could come sooner.
Fashion for a cause is back in a big, Red way.
