Alright, maybe a musical won't exactly permit you to get up and bust a move in the middle of a catchy number, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy its performances to your heart's content! After all, we're talking about a Michael Jackson musical here—a theater production dedicated to portraying the life of the King of Pop, a man who forever changed the landscape of song, dance, and performance with his immense talent.

The official announcement of the musical being slated to run in 2020 was made just a few hours ago as of this writing by the Michael Jackson Estate and the show's producing partner, Columbia Live Stage. It will focus on documenting the pop star's life, perhaps beginning from his rise as a member of The Jackson 5, and ending with his untimely death in 2009.

Other details of the show have also been finalized, namely, its choreographer (multi-awarded Christopher Wheeldon) and playwright (Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage), as well as the inclusion of many of Michael's greatest hits in the musical's song book.

Those who have gotten wind of the news and already counting down to opening night eagerly anticipate the confirmation of who will be playing the singer, as well as which theater the production will call home and its title.

The musical will be the next adaptation of the singer’s life, following two Cirque du Soleil shows: Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour and Michael Jackson: One.
