The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) holds its 35th Concert Season for 2017-2018 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Main Theater entitled “Romancing the Classics”. It began last September 15 and is being led by the baton of Maestro Yoshikazu Fukumura who is acclaimed by music critics as “vigorous, totally focused, a fiery conductor who infused the almost 80-member PPO with his vitality and energy”.
The concert series is comprised of various classical music from our classical legends such as Liszt, Mozart, Stravinsky, Debussy, Tchsaikovsky, Brahms, and many more.
Come December 15, the orchestra will be featuring Debussy’s “La Mer”, Rodrigo’s “Fantasia para un Gentilhombre”, Ravel’s “Valses nobles et sentimentales” and “Bolero” in their Concert IV. This is accompanied by Eduardo Fernandez for guitar and Yoshikazu Fukumura as the conductor.
Such good news for classical music lovers. The concert series will close on April 13, 2018 featuring Raymund De Leon who is a Filipino trumpet player. For the complete repertoire, you may refer to the poster below from the CCP website (culturalcenter.gov.ph):
