The Philippine Book Festival Goes to Davao!

Heads up, bookworms! If you missed the much-awaited book festival in Manila, now is your chance to attend its next stop!

Following its first stop in Manila for this year’s Philippine Book Festival (PBF), the National Book Development Board (NBDB) is gearing up for another run of the much-awaited event this coming August 18 to 20, 2023. The festival will open from 10 AM to 9 PM at SMX Davao in Davao City, with more exciting activities and surprises in store.

“We had it in Manila and we had above 40,000 guests. It’s not really just a book fair; it’s really an experiential space,” NDBD Executive Director Charisse Aquino-Tugade shared in an exclusive interview with Metro.Style

“That’s our campaign right now. It’s for people to find this book festival because it is the largest convergence, especially in the South where you don’t get that type of convergence with authors who are flying in from around the world,” she added.

Happening during Davao’s 38th Kadayawan Festival, the free-entrance book fest welcomes everyone who wishes to participate in the fun-filled community. Authors such as Ambeth Ocampo, Kajo Baldisimo, Candy Gourlay, and Mary Ann Ordinario will be present at PBF, too.

Attendees of the festival will get a chance to learn about new titles, join literary discussions and debates, witness storytelling and book signing sessions and live performances, and meet their favorite local authors and artists in the flesh.

The Philippine Book Festival in Davao will have selections that families and kids will surely enjoy: Kid Lit (kids’ books), Komiks (Filipino graphic novels), Booktopia (fiction and non-fiction titles), and Aral Aklat (educational references).

The four sections are curated by NDBD partners and esteemed book publishing organizations like the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP), Komiket, the Philippine Educational Publishers Association (PEPA), and the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY).
