This Museum Lets You Drink Alcohol Inside!
Last January 29 marked the opening of a different kind of museum in Intramuros—the Destileria Limtuaco Museum. It's home to the rich heritage of the family behind iconic drinks such as Siok Hoc Tong (or ‘sioktong’), White Castle, Manille Liqueur de Calamansi and Paradise Mango Rum Liqueur.
The Limpe family is now on its fifth generation. Olivia Limpe-Aw, the President of Destileria Limtuaco, in a speech during the museum opening, shared the reason the family business has stood the test of time:

“This entrepreneurial legacy that our family has practiced, and our company has practiced through the generations, has allowed our company to stay in the Limpe family’s hands for 5 generations.
My late father, 4th generation master blender, Julius Limpe was the one who envisioned this museum. He wanted to go beyond the oral history and wanted to make it more lasting, more professional, so that we can accurately preserve and convey our family and company’s history.”
The museum took close to 40 years to make, since Julius Limpe bought the stone house in 1979.
Here are some snaps from the opening:

Among the guests were the White Castle ladies of yore, who had a blast reminiscing the good old days. Several members of the Manila government were present as well. It was a celebration to be remembered.
