Make the most of your weekend with these events
It’s been raining hard over the past days but now that the rain is finally letting up, here’s a rundown of things you can do over the weekend:
Jam at Emo Night Manila.
Stir up those pent-up feelings and sing the night away as DJs play anthems from the 2000s at Emo Night Manila on Saturday, September 7.
ENM started as an intimate gathering during the recent emo revival of millennials’ favorite bands like Simple Plan, Fall Out Boy, and Boys Like Girls. Joining Saturday night’s festivities is Emo Night Bangkok with guest DJs Fahmy and Polina adding their twist to the largest emo and pop punk party.
The DJ-based dance party promotes a welcoming, inclusive, and an inclusive space for millennials to relive their teenage years and for GenZ to experience emo culture. It’s happening at Brooklyn Warehouse in Manila. Doors open at 9pm.—Jade Agustin

Appreciate the beauty and significance of Hangeul.
As the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) continues its mission to bridge cultures and foster deeper understanding between Korea and the Philippines, this September, KCC proudly presents two significant events that spotlight the beauty and significance of Hangeul—the Korean alphabet—and its lasting impact on modern literature.
Running from September 6, 2024, to February 28, 2025, at the Korean Cultural Center, the "Hangeul Design Project: Reinterpreting Hangeul in the Modern Era" invites visitors to explore Hangeul's timelessness and its modern-day interpretations.
Held in partnership with the National Hangeul Museum, this exhibit is a tribute to the 75 years of friendship between Korea and the Philippines. It aims to spark a deeper interest among Filipinos in Korean culture by showcasing Hangeul in various art forms. From traditional calligraphy to contemporary art, the exhibit will highlight the adaptability of Hangeul, which was created in 1443, to convey new ideas and knowledge across different mediums.
One of the exhibit's highlights is the integration of Hangeul with other foreign languages, offering an engaging and accessible perspective on the Korean alphabet. The exhibit is free and open to the public from 9 AM to 4 PM.
In addition to the exhibit, KCC has organized a series of performances and workshops to enhance the experience. On September 6, at 3:30 PM, a special traditional performance will take place in the exhibit hall, followed by a calligraphy workshop series starting in October and running until February.
In another exciting event, KCC is thrilled to bring Park Sang Young, the author of the 2022 International Booker Prize Longlisted, “Love in the Big City”, to the Philippines. Find out more about this event here.
Those interested in the workshops can visit Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (Facebook) or @kccphil (Instagram) for more details on how to join.
