Metro Weekend Guide: June 21-23

A big weekend for culture is ahead, and here are some of the events definitely worth checking out.

 

Fête de la Musique

June 21, 5pm onwards; A-Venue Main Stage, A Venue Parking Lot, Makati

June 22, 4 pm onwards; Greenbelt 3 Park / Various Locations around Makati

Annually celebrating World Music Day on June 21st, the French event and biggest musical celebration in the country is back, with live musical performances on multiple stages across Makati, each catered to a specific genre. Admission is free for all events.

The Spectacular Mid-Year Auction 2019

June 22, 2pm; Leon Gallery, G/F Eurovilla 1, Rufino corner Legazpi St, Makati

Over 100 artworks and objects are all up for bidding, with big ticket items from the likes of Hidalgo, Zobel, Amorsolo, Sanso, and BenCab, to newer works from contemporary artists such as Jigger Cruz, JC Jacinto, and Jill Paz.

 

Swan Lake by Moscow Ballet “La Classique”

June 22; New Frontier Theater, Araneta Center, Quezon City

World-renowned Moscow Ballet “La Classique” with professional dancers Nina Kaptsova and Alexander VolchKov are staging the classic tale of Swan Lake accompanied by the Russian Symphony Orchestra—a must-see show ending this weekend. Tickets are available here.

Noli Me Tangere, The Opera

June 21-23, 2pm; CCP, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay

Back for just this weekend, the performance will feature the music by Felipe Padilla de Leon and lyrics by Guillermo Tolentino. Tickets are available here.

Rocketman

In theaters on June 19

Taron Egerton flexes his vocal cords portraying Elton John in this biopic following the colorful life of the music legend. The official soundtrack is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.

Toy Story 4

In theaters on June 20

Taking place two years after the events of the third installment released in 2010—which ended with Andy passing his toys down to his sister, Bonnie—Andy’s old toys are content with their new owner, befriending her toys, including her new homemade toy Forky. The toys all accompany Bonnie on her road trip, where Woody has an unexpected reunion with Bo Peep.

 

Mark Ronson, Late Night Feelings

Available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music on June 21
