BAFTAS 2021: Winners and Highlights
Chloe Zhao’s 'Nomadland' dominated at the BAFTA Film Awards, picking up four wins, including Best Film
The past weekend saw the BAFTA film awards, selected by members of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, presented and what a historic one it was. The drama Nomadland led among films with four wins, including Best Film, Lead Actress, Cinematography, and Director, making it a clear favorite among the panel of members.
The two-night ceremony, held virtually from London's Royal Albert Hall, saw all nominees participate virtually. Saturday's ceremony handed out eight awards, primarily from the craft categories, while the second night of the BAFTAs awarded 17 prizes in total.
Notably, the 2021 celebration marks a historic turning point for the BAFTAs as it is the first edition to take place since the organization’s groundbreaking diversity review. A brief tribute was paid to the 99-year-old Prince Philip, BAFTA’s first president, before diving into the awards.
