“Everything Everywhere All At Once” Back in Manila

The Academy Awards Best Picture recipient makes a return and will be screened in select cinemas in the country

It was an awards marathon for absurdist multiverse comedy movie Everything Everywhere All at Once as it racked up a record of seven wins at the 95th Academy Awards. To showcase the film’s valued story, TBA Studios brings the Hollywood blockbuster to the Filipino viewers starting March 15. EEAAO will be screened in select movie theaters in the metro.

Starring breakthrough star and Oscars 2023 Best Actress Michelle Yeoh, the movie revolves around a reality warp that whiplashed the life of a Chinese laundromat owner and immigrant Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh). Evelyn is the only person who can prevent the destruction of the multiverse and the dangers that margin her marriage and ailing relationships.

Apart from aging, her failing business, challenging familial connections, and her issues with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Evelyn’s descent into her superhero persona seems like descent into madness. Her small-scale business was being examined for tax evasion, her frail father had to move into her already cramped apartment, her husband seeks divorce, and her daughter's aloofness and estrangement brings her heartache. This movie then brings that dose of reality and flips it on itself by giving Evelyn a chance to come into her own power, helping her shape her own narrative.

The film gathers a community of Asian and American cast members including movie icons Jamie Lee Curtis as Deirdre Beaubeirdre; Ke Huy Quan as Waymond Wang; Stephanie Hsu as Joy Wang; James Hong as Gong Gong; Jenny Slate as Debbie the Dog Mom; Harry Shum, Jr. as Chad; and many more.

Directed by the Daniels duo—Daniel Kwan and Daniel ScheinertEverything Everywhere All at Once is an action-adventure offering that stood out in major annual movie awards. Its notable triumphs are winning Best Editing at BAFTA Film Awards, Outstanding Performance by a Cast at Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Best Motion Picture of the Year at the Oscars to name a few.

Moviegoers can enjoy EEAAO in cinemas from March 15 in Cinema '76 Tomas Morato; Power Plant Cinema; SM Cinema Aura; SM Cinema S’ Maison; SM Cinema Mall of Asia; SM Cinema Megamall; SM Cinema North Edsa; and SM Cinema The Podium. Meanwhile, another Oscar winner, The Whale—for which its lead Brendan Fraser landed Best Actor—is also showing on the big screen.
