There’s a Cleopatra Film In The Works, With Gal Gadot Set To Star
She will be teaming up with ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins
Patty Jenkins is adding the story of another complex woman to her directing repertoire. After her work on Monster about serial killer Aileen Wuornos, and the two Wonder Woman films, Jenkins is set to helm a biopic about Cleopatra, Deadline reports. Gal Gadot is set to star.
The film, which was apparently Gal’s idea through her production company Pilot Wave, was announced yesterday and will be penned by Shutter Island and Altered Carbon’s Laeta Kalogridis.

As you might have heard I teamed up with Patty jenkins and Leata Kalogridis to bring the story of Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, to the big screen in a way she’s never been seen before. To tell her story for the first time through women's eyes, both behind and in front of the camera. And we are especially thrilled to be announcing this on International Day of the Girl! We hope women and girls all around the world, who aspire to tell stories will never give up on their dreams and will make their voices heard, by and for other women. #cleopatra #internationaldayofthegirl
“I love embarking on new journeys,” said Gal on Twitter. “I love the excitement of new projects, the thrill of bringing new stories to life. Cleopatra is a story I wanted to tell for a very long time. Can’t be more grateful about this A team!!”
Hollywood has long been fascinated by Cleopatra, from the 1963 epic starring Elizabeth Taylor to updated projects by various studios, which have yet to come to fruition.
