“Queen of Tears” Smashes Records and Surpasses “Crash Landing on You”

The South Korean series is now hailed tvN network’s highest-rating drama with a record of 24.9% in total viewership on television

Queen of Tears received a record-smashing milestone as it solidified its status as tvN’s highest-scoring drama. Its ending was declared to have raked in a viewership rating that surpasses that of Crash Landing on You’s, which was then recorded as the top-rating finale in the history of the network. According to Nielsen Korea, Queen of Tears netted a figure of 24.9%, hushing Crash Landing on You’s 21.7% in February 2020.

Starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, the South Korean series is a story that centers on a married couple, Baek Hyun Woo (Soo Hyun) and Hong Hae In (Ji Won) tackling a current relationship crisis. In this tale, the daughter of a department store magnate meets the “supermarket prince” of a town in the province.

The television show, which topped Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Series chart last March 25 to 31, landed Top 10 in 68 countries as well, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, and India. Worldwide reach aside, QoT was also recognized by TIME Magazine, which it best describes as a K-drama with a “transformative take” on what the audience usually anticipates.
