Son Ye-Jin Will Begin Filming a Hollywood Movie Early Next Year
In a recent interview with ELLE Korea, the ‘Crash Landing on You’ star talked about her decision to try out acting abroad—“I will do my best”
Earlier this year, Soompi announced that Crash Landing on You’s Son Ye-jin and Parasite’s Lee Sun-gyun each confirmed that they are in talks to join the upcoming Hollywood film, Cross.
Ye-jin’s agency, MS Team Entertainment, said: “She is in talks for the movie Cross, and the outlook is favorable. Unless there are any huge changes, she’ll be going through with it.”
In a recent interview with ELLE Korea, Ye-jin talked about her decision to try out acting abroad, specifically in Hollywood.
As reported by allkpop, the actress said: “I wasn’t particularly greedy about it in the past. For me, working on productions in Korea is plenty overwhelming, so I was worried about whether I would be able to act well in a different language.”
“But now,” she added, “I’ve begun to think that I might not be able to take on this challenge again if any more time passes. If I get the opportunity, I will do my best. I suspect that if I face it head on, there will be a lot to gain from the experience.”
Cross is expected to begin filming in the first half of next year and will be directed by Andrew Niccol (who wrote Gattaca and The Truman Show) and produced by Bradley Cramp (who’s also worked with Niccol on the same two films).
According to PinkVilla, the film will tell the story “of people of a divided, virtual, multiracial, and country. Ye-jin plays a citizen of the poor country, living on its borders.”
Sam Worthington is also set to co-star.
