If you’re still wondering whether you should give The Queen’s Gambit a go, consider this your sign to do so.
The limited series starring Anya Taylor-Joy has been seen by over 62 million households in its first 28 days, and has ranked #1 in 63 countries, including the Philippines.
Based on Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel of the same name (which has recently re-entered the New York Times bestselling list!), The Queen’s Gambit follows Beth Harmon, an orphan who becomes a chess prodigy while navigating issues of emotional attachment and drug addiction stemming from her childhood.
The series has received widespread critical acclaim, from Taylor-Joy’s performance as Beth to the series’ cinematography and production design.
Taylor-Joy expressed her gratitude on Instagram, saying: “It’s surreal when something so personal to you travels so far. To our beautiful cast and crew, it has been an honour to build this world with you- thank you for the smiles, the tears, the growth.”
“And to YOU,” she added, “those who have watched and cared... gosh, THANK YOU! How wonderful it is to share stories.”
