Listen: Ariana Grande Performs At-Home Cover of 'Still Hurting' from Broadway
Ariana Grande sings stunning vocals for 'Still Hurting' from Broadway's The Last Five Years in virtual SubCulture concert
Making a comeback to Broadway on Monday, April 27, was none other than Ariana Grande—virtually, that is! The pop singer joined Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown’s Virtual SubCulture Artist-in-Residency concert series, marking Brown’s 58th residency event with the company. Grande performed the opening ballad “Still Hurting” from Brown’s 2001 The Last Five Years musical.
The singer got her start in 2008 in one of Brown’s earlier musicals, 13. For this particular SubCulture virtual performance, she sang in front of a studio mic set-up from an undisclosed location, while Brown accompanied her on piano remotely. Joining them were other dialed-in musicians adding strings and guitar.
On the opportunity to be a part of the concert series, Grande tweeted a heartfelt thanks to the celebrated composer and the SubCulture team.
