The free online concert event allowed fans to stream several of the group's pre-pandemic concerts from previous years at home
On April 17, 2021, BTS held this year’s “BANG BANG CON 2021,” a free online event that was available on their YouTube channel, BANGTANTV, letting fans from all over the world to enjoy several pre-pandemic concerts through the years.
BTS had launched their first "BANG BANG CON" last year, after having to cancel their sold-out 2020 “Map of the Soul” world tour due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2020 event (which took place over the course of two days) was a massive hit that recorded an amazing 2.24 million concurrent viewers. “As BTS faced the ‘untact (non-face-to-face) era’ due to the pandemic, they led a new performance culture with an online streaming festival,” Big Hit Music had released in a statement.
Yesterday, April 18, Big Hit Music announced that this year's "BANG BANG CON" had managed to draw over 2.7 million virtual concert attendees! This year's edition kicked off with a fun clip with the BTS members in high spirits and making jokes about ARMY being able to bring any food and drink into the concert venue (read: their homes!) The 8-hour event featured a total of three of BTS' past concerts including "2015 BTS Live Trilogy: Episode I. BTS Begins" in Seoul, 2019 5th "Muster" fan meeting in Busan, and 2019 "Love Yourself: Speak Yourself" show in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
According to World Music Awards, “Bang Bang Con 2021” also ended with more than 3 million tweets, dominating social media over the weekend across platforms. The event accumulated a total of 50 worldwide trends, just on Twitter alone!
